Sheriff Deputy :Peninsula Township residents-
I am excited to be your new Peninsula Township Community Police Officer. I have been with the Sheriff’s Department for a little over ten years. Throughout my career, I have spent the majority of my time assigned to Garfield Township working night shifts. I also have had the opportunity to work an undercover narcotics assignment for the Traverse Narcotics Team in our detective bureau. Before accepting this community police position with Peninsula Township I was assigned to a newly created "Directed Patrol Unit". This unit was created by the Sheriff's Office to combat problems that were occurring within the county that were difficult for the uniformed officers to handle. Typically, my partner and I would receive notice from the road patrol or detective bureau of problem areas in the community; we would then develop a plan and spend whatever time was necessary to work on those specific areas of concern until the problem was solved.
I have spent 7 years as an instructor for the Sheriff's Office teaching police officers defensive tactics and ground fighting. I have also been trained as an instructor for women's self-defense and rape prevention.
Outside of work I enjoy physical fitness, hunting, and spending time outdoors.
I look forward to working with the community. If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to visit, don't hesitate to call me at 231-223-4525 or you can email me at JBilacic@gtsheriff.org
