Pending ProjectsWater System Update
In early 2007, Peninsula Township applied for a low interest loan through the State of Michigan for capital improvements to the existing water system that were required by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ). The improvements consist of a 300,000 gallon ground water reservoir for water storage, the extension of the water main along M-37 North to McKinley Road, and connection of the privately owned public water systems of Peninsula Knolls, Timbercrest and Cherrywood Commons to the public system. Plans and specifications have already been submitted to the State for approval. Project costs will be approximately 2.6 million dollars and will be paid for through water user fees and a new water benefit fee initiated in July 2007.
